Great Western Wine, founded in 1983 by Philip Addis, initially focused on selling wines to local businesses in Bath. In 2010, Great Western Wine was acquired by Enotria Winecellars (later Enotria&Coe), leading to its transformation into a 100% business-to-consumer retailer. This transition allowed the company to further enhance its services and expand its reach. In June 2020, the company rebranded as The Great Wine Co. to reflect its growth beyond the West Country and emphasize its online presence, which has become the primary channel for wine sales across the UK.
